Johnny Truant's Notes

About

What Is "House Of Leaves"?

"House Of Leaves" is the debut novel by Mark Z. Danielewski, and is a notable piece of Horror Literature due to the way it is formatted, with part of the story being told where you would expect it, and the other part being in the footnotes. It tells multiple stories at once, and is known for its mindbending pages. It is also quite meta, long, and confusing. This is why this website exists, for reference to help understand the pages! This novel is hard to get into, but is an important part of horror history, inspiring such things as "Everymanhybrid" and "myhouse.wad". I hope this website is of use to you while reading, or inspires you to pick up the book itself.

Where Do You Buy It?

Since I love this novel and would be really hard pressed to make a whole website about it without recommending you pick it up yourself, I'll let you know where you can get it. It is still in print, and can be found at most booksellers. I got mine from Barnes and Noble, which is my recommended pick if you're in the states and are unsure, but you can also get it off of Amazon if you really don't know where to get it. However, if possible, support your local bookstore!

Who Are You?

I think an air of mystery is fun when it comes to this part! Though you've probably come across this website from myself promoting it. If you haven't, you can just refer to me by the namesake of this website, Johnny Truant, also known as the main "protagonist" for the footnotes.
