Johnny Truant's Notes

Characters In The Real World

Johnny Truant

Our protagonist for our story. Finds Zampanò’s manuscripts for an analysis of a movie that does not exist, called “The Navidson Record”. Some important things to note about him are the fact that he was couch hopping for a bit, and he works as an apprentice at a Tattoo Shop. He is also in love with a Stripper known as “Thumper”. He is covered in scars, and often makes up stories about them with his friend Lude.

Zampanò

Zampanò was eighty+ years old when he died, seemingly alone, in his apartment. He was known in the apartment complex he lived in for going out like clockwork into the courtyard to take care of weeds and pet about 80 stray cats, without offering much to them. It is when he does not go out to do this that the residents realize that he is dead. Lude, Johnny’s friend, eventually goes and finds the manuscripts, showing them to Johnny, who takes them.

Important things to note about Zampanò is the fact that he was blind, and seemingly had no real documents to prove his existence as a person, despite people knowing him.

Lude

Johnny Truant’s friend, who shows him Zampanò’s apartment. He is a party goer, and a risk taker. Knows the cities like the back of his hand. He's likely friends with Truant due to the way that Truant is able to spin tales, and likes to throw him random tid-bits to add to his stories.

Thumper

The Stripper that Johnny is in love with. She has a tattoo of Thumper the Rabbit from Bambi right next to her crotch.

Amber Rightacre

Amber is one of the women who would work with Zampanò in order to help him with his manuscripts. She is, according to Truant, "quite a number", being a quarter French, a quarter Native American. She has black hair, dark blue eyes, a navel piercing, and a tattoo of barbed wire in red and blue circling her ankle. She is notable for translating Latin, being easily distracted, and having a fling with Truant.

The Editors

A seemingly unknown group of people who have published "House Of Leaves".
